Amazing 3D / Concept Work

Pieces of work that really drive me when I see them.
Definitely something to aspire too!

Music Over Summer

Couldn't have coped this summer without my music, been listening to drum and bass massively at work and at the gym. it's such a shame there's no good DnB gigs up here to go to. Been trawling through all the hospital pod casts, downloading off -

Hospital Podcast Archive

- such a great thing for that guy to put all the pod casts up!

Can't wait to get back to Canterbury now and down to Alberys and the new Kaos - Mixd. Hopefully going to matter for RAM or hospitality too sometime during the year, missing a good mash up massively!

Enter Shikari - Juggernauts (Nero Remix)
Zarif - Calfornia (Danny Byrd Remix)
MGMT - Kids (High Contrast Remix)
Lottery - Dirty Phonics
MRSA - Chemicals
MRSA - Different
Beautiful Lies -B Complex
Mistabishi - From Memory
Chase and Status - Running
High Constrast - Seven Notes in Black
High Constrast - If we ever
Agent Alvin - Drift Away
nu tone - Balaclava
Temper Trap - Science of Fear (Mistabishi Remix)
London Elektricity - Just One Second (Apex Remix)

The entire Sick music album from hospital is absolutely amazing, as is super sized from Danny Byrd and High Constrats Confidential. Really couldn't do without those albums at the moment.
Started to get back into listening to more trance stuff too, liking Ferry Corsten again and Armin Van Buuren, been downloading to some more poppy albums like Lady Gaga - The Fame, Akon - Freedom, just anything that can uplift my spirits really!
Some other tracks I've grown to like to are Chris Browns - Forever, after seeing the JK wedding dance video find it such an uplifting song to listen too. 'I gotta feeling' from Black Eyed Pea's is really great to listen too, Tinchy Stryder and Amelle - Ill never leave you. Have grabbed Acceptance, Atreyu off some random ipod, just different things I never really given a chance to listen to.

Work Over Summer

Have been reading a lot of Maya books I took from the library, just going over basic concepts like Modelling, Textures, Skinning, Rigging, Lighting and Rendering - with a little bit of animation. Am starting to get a pretty good grasp of what to do with Maya and how to use it to my best ability.

Been looking into zbrush a lot lately, and finally get some use out of the tablet I bought for photo shop about 2 years ago and never used! Most of the information I get for zbrush comes from the web, and have a few online books downloaded to keep me going, started getting in 3DS Max too - but think I will focus on Maya mainly for now as that's what my final project needs to be in.

Started doing some drawing with some basic autonomy books I found, just practicing drawing circles and lines to get my orientation and hand eye co-ordination better so I can start sketching out some ideas for the project. Hopefully will improve enough so that I can do a good job doing life drawing classes next year!

Visit To Rome

This summer I went with some friends to Rome, had such a wonderful time there, lovely people as long as you attempted to speak the language.
It really opened my eyes up to how much I enjoy architecture and how wonderful some of the buildings there to look at. I also appreciated greatly there sculptures there and some of them truly were great works of art.

Sadly I had to take my old old camera as I didn't have any insurance on the canon, so will looking into that for future. But hopefully I got away with some good shots! One day I hope to return to and find somewhere to watch a sculpture restorator working just to see how skillful they are, and also take a better piece of equipment to get some impressive memories!

My favorite place had to be fountain Di Trevi, it was so wonderful to look at and amazing peaceful, even if during the day there was a couple of thousand there!

Final Projcet idea's

My original idea was to create something post - apoc, I wanted to do something like the stalker game.
I thought I had it all planned, I wanted to create something like the above picture, but modernising it in a way, and taking pictures of Hyde Park, Big Ben and some British vehicles and implementing them within the image instead to personalise it.

But the realisation is I've had so many ideas running through my head over summer that I just don't really know what to focus on. It'll take many months to complete a full project that I think can get me a good grade and I just want to be happy with where I take off from.

Maybe I'm too ambitious for my own good and just want to create a full scene that animates for around a minute and hope that I can pull it off, but I just want to really focus on one idea and really give it my best, guess I better start jotting things down on paper! :)

Been thinking along the lines of the Constantine scene from the Vatican - perhaps something about mafia during a bar fight or a Matt painting scene depicting the jungle. I really cant get my head around where to start and what to focus on so for now
I guess I'll just concentrate on working on my drawing until I can stick to one idea.

New Beggings

Finally decided to get my act together and start some work for my final year during university. Am really looking forward to this year and getting my head down into some work, think I really found something I wanted to do and that is 3D modelling. The idea being to head towards the film industry and start off as a junior artist somewhere.

Summers been alot better than I though it was going to be, have been getting out and about alot more than I thought I would and time has flown by which is definitely a good thing. Have been getting into work quite a bit, drawing seems to be coming along quite well which should put me in good stead with starting next year, and having also been doing a bit of photography here and there for some fun and also to develop a bit more knowledge about lighting.

Am looking now to just having fun next year and settling down into some work, have been dabbling a bit in learning to draw again and reclaim some of the talent I had when I was a kid, and also reading some books and watching some videos to do with upgrading my modeling.

Started a few Maya scenes over the summer which Ill try and categorise later, also started to work in 3D Studio and also Zbrush to see which direction I can take. Hopefully making my modeling better during my final project.
